Dance Performance Hairstyles for Girls

Since everyone seems to be getting ready for their spring/summer dance performances or competitions, I thought I'd post some inspiration for girls hair and dance accessories. These are from Weissman Costumes, which has the cutest outfits for little girls dance performances. 

Festive Holiday Hair for girls

This post featured on babble shows how to do 12 easy and fancy holiday hairstyles for little girls. 


Consider the following a holiday hair guide for the rest of us. The rest of us with so-so braiding skills, very little patience, or hard to style hair. There’s no reason our little girls shouldn’t be able to have fancy hair for the holidays. Rather than relying on long hair (something we don’t have) we rely on easy styles with simple embellishments anyone with desire and a hot glue gun can make and tailor to their own needs.

Using a few things at the store to put together some fun holiday embellishments, we could have gone crazy with holiday peacocks, Santa hats and tiny little wrapped presents sticking out of ponytails, but we decided to keep it simple. Head to the holiday section of any craft store and see what inspires you. Here is what was purchased for these hairdos:

• 3 plastic headbands -$3
• Bag of little satin roses – $3.50
• Thin red, gold and green ribbon – $1 each
• Thick red satin ribbon – $2
• 4 candy cane shaped ornaments – $2
• Glittery snowflake ornament (with 3 snowflakes) – $1.50
• What we already had – Hair ties, bobby pins, plastic sewing needle, tail comb, spray bottle and a hot glue gun.

Halloween Hairstyles for Disney Princesses and Fairies

These girls' hairstyles were mostly done at Disney resort salons (Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique; Disney Studio 365 etc), also called Princess Makeovers, but would work well to be redone for fairy and princess costumes, respectively. Some clearly have hair extensions added, which can be purchased fairly inexpensively at Target, Claires, etc.

Trick or Treat (Girls Halloween Fashion)

Girls can be beautiful and creative with their Halloween costumes, and those who are lucky enough to wear their costumes to school and/or have Halloween parties at dance class, soccer games and all of their extracuriculars (like my little girl!), they get lots of use out of their costume. It is fun to try variations on the costume for each event or party, to make the outfit festive and fitting no matter what the occasion! I also like to buy costumes a couple sizes too big, and your daughter can wear it throughout the year for dress up activities. If you want to add some pizazz to your little girl's Halloween costume, face paint can be a great way to go. There are lots of kids face paints available, from brands like snazaroo, which have gels, powders, glitters and more! If you aren't feeling artsy, you could also get a children's face paint temporary tattoo of sorts, such as from Fan Stamp, which are hypoallergenic and turn out perfectly every time!

Halloween Hair for Girls: Part 2

Disneyland's Studio 365 (Store in Downtown Disney in California) does makeovers on little girls hair that has more variety than the Princess Hairstyles at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique (Located inside Disneyland, which mostly does sleek buns with tiaras). The 365 hairstyle menu usually involves cornrows/twists, then add colorful clip in extensions and glitter. These are perfect for my daughter, who wants to be a rockstar/pop star for Halloween. Also works for pirates, princesses, fairies, and any costume you want to style up a little!
